A Last Visit

While working on my new blog, Southwest Compass, I created a Facebook account. I was a latecomer because I didn’t see the point of social media. Who knew? I saw a post about my Aunt Gloria, my Mom’s sister.

She had been diagnosed years ago with breast cancer while she was in her 40s. I got the vibe that she was faltering. I told my brother and daughter we need to visit. She and Uncle Bill lived in Erie, Pennsylvania. I flew in with my daughter while my brother and his wife drove from Cincinnati.

As a kid, my parents would rotate Thanksgivings with my dad’s family and my aunt. We would always visit the lighthouse and Presque Isle. That’s exactly what we did over a long weekend near my aunt’s birthday.

She always had a smile, loving life even when she was feeling so poorly. She lived another two years, but that was the last time we ever saw her.

Then, I was diagnosed with brain cancer three months after her death…

Where am I now? You can find me on Blue Sky.
