The State of Regret

Because of my travel blog, Southwest Compass, I had to include Utah. Now I regret the decision to visit. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a beautiful part of the country, very scenic and wild. It was the people. The Mormon people.

I rented a cabin in Moab so that I could photograph Canyonlands and Arches National Parks. The owner escorted me to the cabin. She opened the door for me. She was watching my every move as I dragged my bags in. It was very uncomfortable, but not particularly friendly. She probably was wondering where my husband was.

I was living in Los Angeles when the battle over Prop 8 was raging. I marched twice. How can you allow someone to marry someone that they love, then remove that right? It’s called a right. Then the queer community discovered who funded the ban. Oh yes, the hate-filled Mormons.

LDS Church spent about $190,000 on Prop. 8 campaign

There was a documentary about this injustice:

Happy Ending: On June 26th, 2015, same sex marriage became law in all 50 states. Love always wins...

Where am I now? You can find me on Blue Sky.
