The “C” Word
Here are several suggestions on how to deal with a cancer diagnosis:
Stay positive — as much as you can. Remove negative people from your life.
Get a second or even third opinion.
Move into a larger city so that you have more options for care. Rent if needed.
Get your legal paperwork and insurance in order.
Use all natural products.
Join a support group or find a therapist. If you have a partner, start couples counseling too.
Ask for help. You are going to need it.
Learn how to handle panic attacks. I still have them years later.
Find things that calm you: facials, candles, music, hot tea, etc.
Focus on a goal when you beat this! (I took a vacation to South America.)
Never look at statistics. Everything online will be outdated.
Creativity can help you process your emotions: write poetry, learn to sketch or paint, craft pottery, etc.
Clean up your diet. It’s not too late.
Meditate or pray.
Celebrate everything! Not just the holidays or milestones. A beautiful sunset or a good cup of coffee can change your mood immediately.
Give back when you can. I’ve walked in Light The Night every year.
Say Thank You — a lot!

I am not a medical professional.
But I was a mentor for two different cancer support groups for several years.
